Committee Poem
The Christmas meal had an added surprise for the members who attended, with Russell the barman reading a poem he'd written. I have been asked to publish it here for your enjoyment? Merry Christmas!
The Lowestoft Sea Anglers members have all various jobs;
They hold all their meetings at the home of knobs and snobs.
Arthur The Elder, ex-cop, is no mug;
Likes his pint of Adnams served in a jug.
As Chairman of the meetings his control is maxi;
Until someone shouts "Wife, bingo, taxi".
Stan Gooderham on the beach once dig a jig;
He claimed he'd caught a cod that bloody big.
Alan is good at telling the odd joke;
He often cocks them up after too many cokes.
John Carter is a bit of a lager lout;
He often catches many whiting that pout.
Pamela, his wife, when fishing at night;
Makes so much noise the poor fish swim off with fright.
George the builder is a pleasant sort of fella;
Despite getting p***ed on pints of Stella.
Big brother Stan sometimes feels randy;
Its because he drinks lots of Mackeson shandy.
George at the meetings is never no bother;
Because he gets the evil eye from his big brother.
Micky George is a well known local butcher;
When he catches a big fish he shouts "Gotcha".
Big Brian is a really nice old dear;
He's often been crowned King of the South Pier.
Marcus is a lovely lad who never moans;
He dare not 'cos he's married to Miss Soanes.
Roy might be short and a really nice bloke;
His favourite tipple is ice and diet coke.
Top man Leo, whose wife and son;
Keep the old boy supplied with tots of Lamb's rum.
Gassie Cook in the yacht club tends to bend the member ears;
Because in the club you aren't allowed to f***ing swear!
Russell the ex-barsteward you all have fun and poke;
Until he tells one of his dirty jokes.
So lets all get up off our arse, and raise a glass;
A toast to the Lowestoft Sea Anglers.
'Pink-Pin Bowling'
Numbers were down on last year, with only 18 turning out. Those who did take part found the food more favourable than first feared, with some even getting a second helping! The winner after two games was S Scarff who had a total of 295. The effort put in obviously made him hungry, as he led the way in going up for more food. His prize of a bottle of wine will go well with the other four bottles won by family Scarff!

He brought his wife and daughter along for the experience of meeting Brian 'Matt Hayes' Watson. They spent the day on Pakefield beach, and although nothing was caught, a good time was had by all. There are a couple of photos on the left, and a copy of the note sent to Brian thanking him for his efforts. Next stop, the Discovery channel!

Photo From The Past
The photo previously seen in the Journal has been obtained by us, and a link is available on the left. Some familiar faces are lining up to weigh in. They haven't changed much. Is Mr Carter telling us he caught two fish?
'Pink-Pin Bowling' 2004
The bowling night was a great success, with 34 enjoying both the bowling and food. The winner over 2 games was Tim Harman, who had a total score of 319. You can see for yourselves who brought up the rear! As for the bowling Bhudda, the less said the better. The meditation must be paying off. Here are the full results:
