Carnival Match 2010

A change in weather during the afternoon, giving showers and an increasing wind, was enough to keep the match entries down to only 28. Those who fished were very competitive knowing that just a fish or two might put them in the prizes. The winner was Ozzie Osbourne who had 2 pollock and 3 pouts for 2lb 10oz to net him the top prize of a rod and reel (donated by Angling Mad). Second place went to Brian Watson who had 3 eels for 1lb to pick up a fixed-spool reel. Third was John Thacker who had a single pollock for 10oz to net him a beachcaster (donated by Oulton Broad Tackle). Top junior was Peter Hammond (11) who had a single pollock for 9oz, which earnt him a hook wallet, box, line and hooks (donated by Angling Mad). The Smallest Sizeable Fish shield went to nine-year-old Chad Warren who had a 3oz pout. Most of the fish were returned to the sea alive at the end of the match. There was a raffle run on the night which was well supported, with that and the match takings we will be able to send £150 to charity. Many thanks to all who took part, those who gave prizes and those who helped run the event.

Junior Festival 2010

The afternoon was very blustery with many showers, but that did not dampen the hopes of the three juniors that turned up for the match. All three caught undersize whiting during the match and the thought that one reasonable sizeable fish might win the match kept the boys interested till the end. Jake Youngman had a small dogfish of 13oz to take first place and win him a rod and reel combo. Second place was Perri George with a 2oz pout to win a fixed spool reel and third was Reece King who won a headlamp. All fish caught during the match were returned alive to the sea.
